many of us can’t choose our current families, but all of us can choose our ancestors.

people that struggled, cared, loved and even gave their lives for the liberation and betterment of their communities and the world didn’t do so to be a source of strength and security for their immediate family only, they did so for all of us.

there’s nothing really stopping you from evoking them as your ancestors, whoever it is that you’re thinking about. and there’s nothing to lose, but much to gain from doing so.

evoke them,
learn from them,
and strive to become and give to others what they are and give to you,
in your own ways.
